Upgrading of remote control equipment in regional Networks
The Scope of the Project relates to the supply and installation of modern remotely controlled elements at overhead Medium Voltage (MV) Grids and Medium Voltage/ Low Voltage (MV/LV) Substations which shall be connected with the Regional Control Centers of Distribution Networks and shall be managed by them.
New Systems and Services
The benefits expected from the implementation of this Project are related to:
- the improvement of the energy quality index System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), through the remote control of the remotely controlled elements on the MV Network
- the decrease of the operational cost of HEDNO due to the restriction of the need for on site management, the decrease of the use of crews etc
- the increase of the reliability of the Network due to the possibility of prompt intervention in vital elements of the critical conditions to be handled
- the restriction of power and energy losses in the Networks
The Project is expected to be completed in the 3rd quarter of 2023 (the initial timetable for project completion has been revised). By March 20198, 25% of the Project was completed. More specifically, tenders for the supply of remotely controlled network components (Load Break Switches, Automatic Circuit Reclosers for overhead MV grids, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and power failure indicators for the indoor Medium/Low Voltage Substations have been announced and are in progress.
