Licensed Electrician Certificate
Ensure the Safety of Your Electrical Installation!
The Licensed Electrician Certification certifies the safety of your indoor electrical installation and is essential, as it protects citizens from serious risks that may arise from unchecked or uninspected installations.
Why is the Licensed Electrician Certification important for our safety?
Improper use of electricity can lead to electric shocks and fires, resulting in loss of life and property.
Unchecked or uninspected electrical installations may pose the following risks and issues:
- Electric shock (injury or loss of life) to humans or animals.
- Fires or burn injuries.
- Damage or destruction of electrical and electronic devices.
- Leakages leading to excessive electricity consumption.
- Legal consequences for the property owner/user or the electrician, if the installation is found to be non-compliant with legal requirements—especially in the event of incidents involving third-party damage (death, injury, property damage), formal complaints, or inspections initiated by the authorities, particularly for the electrician involved.
What are the benefits of inspecting an electrical installation?
- Increased safety in the use of electricity.
- Reduced risk of damage or malfunction of electrical or electronic appliances.
- Assurance that electricity is being used where, when, and only as needed.
- Avoidance of legal consequences due to non-compliance with regulations.
- Reduced environmental footprint and active participation in sustainable development.
Who is responsible for inspecting an electrical installation?
- For every new installation, as well as any existing installation that is modified, an inspection is required in accordance with current legislation. These inspections must be carried out by a licensed electrician who possesses the necessary professional and formal qualifications.
- Regular re-inspections must be commissioned by the owner or user of the installation and performed by an electrician with the appropriate qualifications.
When does a Licensed Electrician Certificate expire and how can I check it?
According to current legislation, in order to keep an installation safe and compliant, it must be periodically re-inspected with positive results. For residential properties, re-inspection is required every 10 years, while for business premises it is required every 5 years.
Through the Licensed Electrician Certificate Online Application, property owners or users can check the expiration date of their Licensed Electrician Certificate based on HEDNO’s official records.
How do I submit/renew a Licensed Electrician Certificate?
The submission or renewal of a Licensed Electrician Certificate, must be carried out by a Licensed Electrical Installer who holds the necessary formal and professional qualifications.
The Electrical Installer must digitally sign the completed certificate, which is then uploaded to the HEDNO’s Service Requests platform, accompanied by a Declaration of Responsibility (Solemn Declaration), from the property owner or user, authenticated for signature validity via gov.gr.
Next, the Owner or User of the installation digitally signs both the Licensed Electrical Installer and the Solemn Declaration via gov.gr. Once both documents are digitally signed by both parties, they are uploaded to HEDNO’s Service Requests platform.
Please note that Licensed Electrical Installer must be submitted exclusively via digital means.
