Here you will find in detail the steps needed to request an initial connection to the electricity grid and activate your connection.

Network Connection Procedure

The stages of the process are as follows:

Submit an application for initial connection to the network, by submitting the necessary supporting documents for the conduct of a technical connection study

A study is carried out by HEDNO, in order to calculate the amount of your participation in the costs and to prepare an offer for the connection to the network.

You pay the connection costs and sign the contract with the network.

The new supply is constructed.

Submit the necessary documents for activation of your network connection.

The connection (Electrification) is activated.

What supporting documents are required to connect to the network:

Documents required for the submission of an Initial Connection request:

Connection Certificate to Utility Networks, issued through the “e-Permits” information system of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) by an engineer of the customer’s choice. The following clarifications apply to the certificate:
- - - - Its submission is mandatory for any initial connection to the electricity distribution network for all types of buildings/premises/installations, in accordance with Article 47A, paragraph 1 of Law 4495/2017, as added by Article 62 of Law 4759/2020.
      - Each certificate corresponds to one supply point, i.e., the customer must submit as many certificates as the number of supply points requested.
      - The certificate is valid for six (6) months and must be valid not only at the time of application but also at the time of activation (electrification). If it expires, a new certificate must be issued and submitted.
      - If amendments are required following a review by HEDNO, the applicant must submit a corrected version. According to TEE, this can be done via “e-Permits” within the validity period and free of charge, by submitting a correction request as a continuation of the issued certificate.
      - For temporary supply requests, the certificate must indicate temporary connection and include a completed “Service Interest Information” field.
      - For construction site supplies with an indefinite duration indicated in the certificate (due to the building permit being indefinite), the supply duration will be set at two (2) years from the certificate’s issuance date. In this case, no amendment to the certificate is required.
If the total building volume, after exhausting the building coefficient, exceeds 2,500 cubic meters, the customer must obtain a document from HEDNO during the building permit phase regarding exemption from or requirement for a substation space.
Approved site plan and ground floor/basement plan for meter space allocation, if three (3) or more meters are requested.
For rural electrification, submission of Form No. 1 with agricultural-technical and agroeconomic information from the competent Directorate of Regional Agricultural Economy and Veterinary Medicine (DAOK) of the relevant Regional Unit is required.
For Medium Voltage (MV) connections, the following are additionally required:
- Single-line diagram of the proposed internal MV and LV installation up to the main distribution board(s).
- Topographic diagram of the substation location, including precise coordinates.

How to Submit a New Connection Request

You can submit your request through the online application by selecting “New Connection” and then attaching the required supporting documents. For the very limited number of services that require the physical presence of the applicant—such as those that involve signing documents—we offer the option of a scheduled appointment at our local branches nationwide. To do this, you must first submit a contact request through the application.
