Upgrading of Regional Remote Control Equipment in Networks
We supply and install modern remote control elements in Medium Voltage (MV) overhead networks and in Medium/Low Voltage (MV/LV) substations which we connect to the Regional Distribution Network Control Centres that will manage them.
Completion of individual works:
- We completed the training of personnel on the installation of remote-control field equipment in the Network.
- We installed 172 RTUs, and at the same time, the option for the procurement of additional equipment was activated to ensure the smooth execution of the project. In total, 790 remote-control units (RTUs) are to be procured and installed across the network.
- We completed the installation of RTUs and older-generation Control and Monitoring Units (CMUs) in indoor substations.
Works in progress:
- We installed 1,885 pole-mounted remotely-controlled load switches, 94% of which have already been connected and are monitored via SCADA as of the end of 2024. We are proceeding with the installation of an additional 2,619 units, following the activation of procurement options and new procurements.
- We installed 381 remotely-controlled load switches, 97% of which have been connected and are being monitored. We are moving forward with the installation of another 854 units in the network, also through activated options and new procurements.
- By the end of 2024, we had installed 134 Fault Occurrence Indicators out of a total of 830 and 197 Control Units (CUs) out of 1,460 received. These are being progressively deployed across the network.

Project benefits
The benefits of the project implementation include:
Improvement of the power quality index (SAIDI), through remote control of remotely controlled components in the Medium Voltage network.
Reduction of operational costs, due to the reduction of the need for on-site operations and the reduction of crew employment.
Increase in grid reliability, in the ability to intervene immediately on vital elements to deal with critical situations.
Reduction of power and energy losses in the networks.
