HEDNO was formed by the separation of the Distribution Department from PPC S.A. in whose obligations, responsibilities and rights it was replaced by Law (article 123 of Law 4001/2011).
It is the owner (from 30.11.2021) and manager of the Greek Electricity Distribution Network (a. 122 and 123A of Law 4001/2011).
It is responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of the electricity distribution network for the interconnected system and for the Non-Interconnected Islands (NIIs).
In the NIIs, it also acts as the Market Operator of the NIIs (articles 127 and 129 of Law 4001/2011).
HEDNO’s activities are supervised by the independent Regulatory Authority for Energy (articles 4, 14, 15, 22, 27 – 36 and articles 122 – 130 of Law 4001/2011).
The Company’s share capital 51% is owned by PPC S.A. and 49% by MSCIF DYNAMI BIDCO SINGLE MEMBER SA (i.e. MSCIF DYNAMI BIDCO SA).

HEDNO was established by Law 4001/2011 (European Directive 2009/72/EC), according to which it is responsible for the management of HEDNO as well as the management of the markets of the Non-Interconnected Islands.
